The French Revolution - between liberty and terror
This is a presentation of a course given at Stockholm University ("Culture and politics in contemporary France", basic level) based on the publication of the book of Marcel Gauchet on Robespierre (Gauchet, M., & DeBevoise, M. B. 2022. Robespierre: the man who divides us the most. Princeton University Press. ISBN: 9780691212944). The aim is to analyze the controversial legacy of Robespierre and the emergence of jacobinism as a specific ideology of the nation.
