Fanon, between the Caribbean and Africa

In the present study, we focus on how the Caribbean has fostered anti-colonial thinking with the example of Fanon who experienced the French colonial rule in Martinique. Fanon was not really predestined to become the famous psychiatrist criticizing deep cultural racism in European societies or the ambassador of Pan-African movements but the Caribbean gave him a strong consciousness of how historical traumas had a discrete cultural legacy. By using the approach of travelling theory of Saïd, we will describe Fanon’s political journey in anti-colonial-thinking. Even if Fanon is often presented as one of the pioneers for postcolonial studies, his anti-colonial gesture is also linked to a political and diplomatic agenda.
