Translating, surviving and writing: Jorge Semprún's long journey

This presentation was made on May 22, 2023 at the Department of Romance Studies and Classics of Stockholm University as part of a conference given on the centenary of the birth of Jorge Semprún ("Jorge Semprún, a European consciousness"). The event was organized in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Embassy in Sweden. The aim is to understand the decisive place of the first novel written by Jorge Semprún in 1964, The long voyage. This novel lays the foundations of a European consciousness that Semprún analyzed after leaving the Spanish Communist Party.
